Creating expressive art & unique brands.
Empowering artists through mentorship & online courses.
Open to collaborations.

Hi, I'm Melissa Mitchell! I’m a Texas-based artist and entrepreneur, and creativity has always been at the core of everything I do. With over 20 years of experience in business development, marketing, and branding, I’ve learned how to blend artistic expression with practical strategies to create meaningful, impactful work. My artwork has been exhibited in galleries across Texas, focusing on acrylic painting, watercolor, and mixed media. I draw inspiration from nature, seeking to capture both beauty and a sense of peace in my work.

In addition to painting, I run Melissa Mitchell Art & Design, where I focus on fine art, logo creation, and educational courses that help artists thrive on the business side of art. I believe that creative people deserve to understand and master the skills they need to sustain their practice—without losing the joy of creating. Through my courses, I guide emerging artists through branding, business development, and the often-complicated world of art entrepreneurship.

Currently, I also serve as the Gallerist at Padre Island Art Gallery, where I manage operations and proudly represent nearly 100 talented artists. It's an incredible community, and being part of it allows me to foster connections, support local creativity, and help artists find their unique paths to success. For me, it’s all about building sustainable businesses that nurture innovation and creativity.

My Business Specialties:

  • Marketing & Branding

  • Business Development

  • Inventory & Business Management

  • Fine Art Creation (Watercolor, Acrylic, Mixed Media)

  • Digital Art, Surface Design & Logo Creation

I’m deeply passionate about nurturing creativity—both in my art and in the community around me.

My hope is that my art encourages others to embrace their own journeys of renewal and growth—finding beauty in the ever-changing, evolving nature of life.

My Inspiration and my Journey

As an artist, I love exploring themes of tranquility, transformation, and hope. My work is about capturing the beauty of the world, often using natural elements and layering textures and colors to bring each piece to life. It’s an organic, intuitive process, and I love seeing how each piece unfolds and reveals its own story. My recent series explores our connection with nature, using earthy tones and organic shapes that evoke a calm, gentle transformation.

One quote that has always deeply resonated with me is by Georgia O'Keeffe, who said, “To create one's world in any of the arts takes courage... I’ve been absolutely terrified every moment of my life, and I’ve never let it keep me from a single thing that I wanted to do.” If I can inspire even one person to grow and achieve more than they imagined in their art or in their business, then I consider that a true success.

I am also inspired by Vincent van Gogh, who once said: “If you hear a voice within you say, 'you cannot paint,' then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.” He also said, “Great things are done by a series of small things brought together.”

These words remind me that creating art, much like building a successful business, is a journey made up of countless small efforts. Every brushstroke, every business decision, every moment of planning or learning—all of these seemingly small actions come together to create something greater. Whether I'm painting a new piece or developing a strategic plan for an artist’s career, I see the power in these "small things" adding up.

Throughout my journey, I’ve learned not to let the opinions of nay-sayers hold me back. There have always been those who thought my ideas were too risky or unlikely to succeed. If I had stopped every time someone doubted me, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

I’ve also never believed that a closed door means it’s time to give up. To me, it simply means it’s time to turn and find another path—one that could lead to something even greater. Sometimes, the obstacles we face are not dead ends but signs guiding us toward better opportunities, just waiting to be discovered.

Each small step, every tiny success, and each lesson learned—together they weave into something truly meaningful and impactful. This is the beauty of the process. The reward lies in knowing that every part of the journey contributes to a vision far greater than the sum of its parts.

Whether you’re here for art, design, mentorship, or collaboration, I’m glad you’re along for the ride.

Let’s create something beautiful together!
